    Ingredients

    • Berries: Strawberries and blueberries are used, but any berry, fresh or frozen, can work.
    • Frozen Acai: Unsweetened acai globes or packets work best, as you can adjust the sweetness of the smoothie yourself. Freeze-dried powder can work in a pinch as well, but will create a thinner texture.
    • Vegan Yogurt: Unsweetened or vanilla vegan yogurt pairs perfectly with the acai berry smoothie. You could also use a vegan Greek yogurt for more protein and a thicker texture.

    The secret to making the best acai smoothie recipe is to use a high-powered blender. This is so that everything whips up as smooth and creamy as possible.

    Step 1: Add the Ingredients.  Starting with the liquid, add all the ingredients to a blender and put the lid on.

    Step 2: Blend. Blend the smoothie on high until everything is creamy. Then pour the smoothie into a glass or bowl and enjoy.

    • Liquid On The Bottom: When placing the ingredients into your blender, add the liquid first, as this makes it easier for the blender to process.
    • Adjusting the Texture: For a thicker smoothie, use frozen bananas, ideally those that have been sliced. This will create an almost ice cream-like texture in the smoothie.
    • Frozen Fruit: If you’re using frozen fruit, you may need to add more dairy-free milk in small amounts to help thin the protein shake.
    • Storing: Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh. If you have to store your smoothie, you’ll want to give it a shake or blend it again with some before you sip, as the smoothie will separate some. Of course, you could also reblend it with some extra ice to thicken it back up.

    Can I make an acai smoothie ahead of time?

    Smoothies are best enjoyed freshly made. However, you can meal prep the smoothie by placing all the ingredients except the dairy-free milk in a plastic bag and placing it in the freezer overnight. In the morning, break apart the contents in the bag and add them to a blender with the milk. Process until smooth. This will save you time measuring in the morning.

    Are frozen bananas or ripe bananas best for an acai smoothie?

    Both frozen and ripe bananas can work when making a smoothie. Frozen bananas will result in a thicker and creamier texture. Ripe and soft bananas will give more sweetness to the smoothie.

    Is an acai smoothie healthy?

    Acai berries are packed with omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, lots of micronutrients, and fiber. This means that acai smoothies can be part of a healthy diet and a great way to take in a lot of nutrients at once.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 handful strawberries
    • ¼ cup blueberries
    • 1 banana
    • 100 grams frozen acai about 1 handful. I use Sambazon unsweetened açaí globes or their individual acai packets
    • 1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder
    • 2-3 tablespoon vegan yogurt
    • ¼ cup dairy-free milk

    Instructions
     

    • To a blender, add all of the ingredients, then blend for several minutes until you get a very smooth and luxurious texture.
    • Transfer to a glass and enjoy!
