Vegan Apple Crumble Dessert

Apple desserts are my favorite to make and, of course, eat. I love making apple pie, but if you’re feeling lazy and want to eat your apple dessert even quicker, you’ll love this apple crumble recipe. It is vegan and, although I did make mine with whole wheat flour, you can easily substitute for a gluten free flour and make yours gluten free as well.

What you will need

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 lb apples (about the same as 6 small/medium apples)
  • 1 lemon (both the juice and zest)
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Crumble Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats
  • 3/4 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • 1 flax egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Filling

  • Start by washing and peeling your apples.
  • Then chop them up in small pieces (about 1 inch in length).
  • Add them to a large bowl and then add all of the filling ingredients. Mix well.
  • Then transfer to a baking dish. I used a round glass Pyrex dish.

Crumble Topping

  • Add all of the topping ingredients and mix them well. Make sure all the chunks of butter are incorporated in.
  • Use your hands to distribute the crumble topping all over the apple filling.
  • Place your apple crumble in the oven and bake at 375*F for 45-60 minutes. I like when the top of the crumble is crispy, so I baked mine for a full hour.
  • Top it with some whipped cream or vegan ice cream!

  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
