I know you've seen the Dalgona whipped coffee craze. I tried it with matcha, and although the texture wasn't as thick and beautiful, the result tasted absolutely amazing! Here's how to make your own Dalgona whipped matcha latte.
What you will need:
The ingredients are simple. Basically the same things that you would need for whipped coffee, but replace the instant coffee with matcha. I used 2 tablespoon matcha, 2 tablespoon coconut sugar, and 2 tablespoon hot water. Of course, you can use regular white sugar, but I just really like using coconut sugar.
You will also need ice and milk to complete the beverage. I used unsweetened vanilla soy milk in mine because it's my favorite dairy free milk to add to drinks. I find that it's the thickest and creamiest.
How to make it:
Combine your matcha, sugar, and water, and mix them really well.
I highly recommend using a hand mixer because it makes the whole thing one hundred times easier.
While it is possible to whisk the mixture by hand, matcha does not get as fluffy as the instant coffee, so it just makes the whole thing easier and you get better results if you use an electronic hand mixer to help you.
After you have mixed your matcha for several minutes (at least 3-5 with your hand mixer), then you are ready to assemble your matcha latte.
Add your ice, soy milk, and top with your matcha. Remember to mix it all in really well.
Although the drink looks super cute with the milk on the bottom and the matcha on top, I don't believe anyone actually drinks it like that. To me, that would not taste very good.
I have attached a printable recipe below and also included a little video of the process, so it can make it easier for you. I hope you enjoy 🙂
