This chocolate protein oatmeal is one of those healthy breakfast recipes that tastes like you are actually having dessert. And honestly, I have been making it for myself for dessert after dinner on multiple nights this week, so it can totally be both! Let's get into making this delicious recipe.
Instead of skipping breakfast, start your day off nice and sweet. Not only is this oatmeal so delicious, but it also has a combination of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats to start your day with all of the necessary macronutrients!
What you will need to make this chocolate protein oatmeal
- oats- I use regular rolled oats. You can use your favorite kind of oats!
- banana- mashing a banana into the oatmeal adds flavor and sweetness.
- peanut butter- include peanut butter or your favorite nut butter for protein.
- chocolate protein powder- I like to add chocolate protein powder for protein and a chocolatey flavor.
- cacao powder- this adds a deeper flavor of chocolate.
- maple syrup- add maple syrup for a natural sweetener.
- vanilla- vanilla is a great way to add extra flavor to this recipe.
- dash of salt- you'll want to add some salt to balance the sweetness.
- dairy free milk- cook the oatmeal in your favorite dairy free milk to keep this recipe vegan.
Toppings
I topped my oatmeal with a sliced banana, dairy free chocolate chips and dried coconut. The beauty of this recipe is that it is so versatile. You can top this with your favorite fruit like strawberries, raspberries or even oranges. For added protein and crunch, top it with some almonds or walnuts. The toppings make this oatmeal extra fun to eat, so make this recipe your own by adding all your favorites!

I made this the other morning for my husband and I and we loved it! I'm hoping to make it so my kids can eat it too, but my daughter is allergic to peanut butter. Could I replace it with almond butter? Thank you!
