The trend of baked oatmeal has been everywhere, and for good reason! Baked oats taste like an indulgent mug cake dessert, but are actually made with healthy ingredients that are nutritious and filling too. I have recently been obsessing over this trend and I have made so many versions of baked oats. My favorite has got to be these chocolate baked oats. I would seriously eat these over chocolate cake any day! I'm excited to share the recipe with you all and I hope you all like it as much as I do.

    chocolate oatmeal in a bowl

What you will need for your chocolate baked oats

    • 1 banana
    • 1 cup oats
    • 2 tablespoon peanut butter
    • 2 tablespoon cacao powder
    • 2 tablespoon chocolate protein powder
    • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
    • ½ teaspoon baking powder
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla
    • dash of salt
    • 1 cup dairy free milk
    • ½ cup chocolate chips
    overhead shot of chocolate oatmeal

    How to make them

    • To a blender, combine the banana, oats, peanut butter, cacao, protein powder, maple syrup, baking powder, vanilla, salt, and milk. Blend these ingredients.
    • Grab two oven safe bowls. Pour the batter to the halfway point of each bowl.
    • Then add 1-2 tablespoons of chocolate chips to the middle of each bowl.
    • Fill the rest of the bowls to the top with the rest of the batter, covering the chocolate chips fully.
    • Top the bowls with more chocolate chips.
    • Bake the chocolate brownie oats for 20 minutes at 450*F.

Could you leave out the banana? Would it need to be replaced?

You can leave it out and it will just be less thick, you can also replace it with an egg if you aren't vegan. Hope that helps 🙂

Yes! Just add a bit more sweetener because the cacao can make things a little bitter.

Can I just skip the chocolate protein powder or would I need to replace it with something else?

Not sure which protein powder you are using, so with that in mind, wouldn't the nutrition value be different depending on which you use? My protein powder has 21 grams of protein.
